Whatever Happened To The Semi-Api (for independent databanks)??????
Blessings and Peace:
Jeroen, I trust that all is well with you and yours.
Congrats on your graduation. I think you were still
a student when we talked last.
Can you believe that 11 months have passed, since
our exchange; wherein you shared that you were working
on an semi-API for Mapped Up. This 'gateway' would allow
for independent databanks to feed into Mapped Up. (See
your highlighted comments just below.)
What happened???? That wonderful idea seems not to
have made it into reality. PLEASE explain.

hello Rafiki,

One of the things I'm very busy with, is expanding the worldmap you
refered to. Right now it's not possible to feed it with other sources
than the RSS aggregation I use. I'm working hard on expanding it and
making a sort-of API, o the map can also plug into other datasources,
such as your databank. Expect this to take at least one more moth
though, since it's a lot of work.
Best wishes,
Jeroen

I am still working on it! It's simply taking a lot of time to implement all new stuff I want to put in the new version. The API will definetily be in there as well...

Hi Jeroen,
I read this post with great interest and would like to firstly commend you on an excellent piece of software.
I was just wondering how far off the semi-api was and what extensibility will it provide?
Finally, I tried to find some kind of licensing statement but couldn't. I wanted to create a CMS module utilising this newsfeed and dont want to step on anyones toes.
Angek (May 14, 2007):
Sorry Jeroen just found the terms of service and I noticed that there is no commercial use of mappedup allowed. Can you please define commercial. I dont plan on selling the CMS module , just providing an easy means of adding it to CMS driven sites. Would I be in breach?
Jeroenw (Jun 05, 2007):
Please send me an email, mail@jeroenwijering.com, so we can discuss the licensing of mappedup. The extensibility of the API is - for now - confined to colors, dimensions and feed/tags used.
Angek (Sep 17, 2007):
Hi Jeroen, I know its been a while but I've sent you an email in the hope that we could further discuss the licensing of mappedup. Looking forward to hearing from you.
