We're a floater at PostBubble!
At last, the beta-notion next to our logo logo did pay off! We've been featured by PostBubble.com, one of the major, frequently-updated Web2.0 weblogs.
There are some interesting thoughts about MappedUp's possibilities in the main articles. The responses however, as always, display some sharper commentaries and well-put criticism:
another startup with a nifty app in search of a market
Not much to argue against that for now. But let me say we're not displaying this tool to wait and see if someone comes up with that market. We're expanding the service in various directions (description reading, audio&video, dummification etc.) in order to take a clear position in between the other RSS aggregators and RSS homepages.
Billboards, TVs, etc. are all highly visual mediums. Are these industries realistically going to use their mediums to show RSS feeds with a pretty map system?
Agreed. But we've not built this pretty map system just to show RSS feeds. MappedUp itself is also a highly visual medium and we intend to incorporate (motion) graphics as well. Podcasts and Vodcasts are also essentially RSS feeds, so most of the work has been done already.
All in all, some hints on the directions we're working in right now. Of course there's still much to do and we still need much more bright ideas to turn MappedUp into a success. It's a great thing to work on though, and I'm quite confident these bright ideas will come.
Anyone?
