Bloomingdale's and The New Museum of Contemporary Art have begun an extensive collaboration that debuts during Bloomingdale's fall art & fashion campaign "Artrageous".

On September 5, Bloomingdale's will open special shops in its two New York City stores to sell products selected from the New Museum's distinctive store. 90% of those sales will benefit the museum. These New Museum outposts will be a one-stop shop for anyone who wants to stay on top of the newest and most important books, media, periodicals and giftables from the world of contemporary art. The New Museum's Store buying team have selected approximately 80 items from their comprehensive inventory to feature in the shops, which can be found on the second floor of Bloomingdale's 59th Street flagship store as well as the Soho unit at 504 Broadway. The shops, staffed by museum personnel, will be open during all Bloomingdale's store hours and remain in place until November 6. All proceeds from the New Museum Store go directly to support the artistic programs of the New Museum of Contemporary Art, a non-profit organization.

The institution will also benefit from a silent auction of original signed designer sketches, which will be displayed in the 59th Street store during the "Artrageous" campaign. In addition, later this fall, one of Bloomingdale's Lexington Avenue windows will showcase The New Museum's new building, scheduled to open December 1.

Founded in 1977, the New Museum of Contemporary Art is the premier contemporary art museum in New York City and among the most important internationally. The Museum's program of dynamic solo exhibitions and landmark group shows defines key moments in the development of contemporary art, reflects the global nature of art today, and spans a vast array of cultural activities and media. Their magnificent new building, at 235 Bowery, designed by Sejima & Nishizawa (SANAA) will open on December 1.

a、免费；
b、稳定；
c、自定义；
…………

January 2, 2008--After ripping up the asphalt from the walkway around the sitting wall with a bobcat, today the operatives got serious and started dismantling Washington Square fountain with crowbars and a hammer. As the tarpaulin went up, blocking the view, a few foreign visitors began to pay attention--unlike the local population--and an explanation of the goings-on seemed called for. Segment includes an image of the (so far) doomed sephora trees in full summer regalia for contrast.

A new kind of ceramic material has been discovered by the Swedish chemist Saeid Esmaeilzadeh who accidentally cooled down a ceramic substance too fast.

Instead of throwing away the results of the failed experiment, he decided to research the substance. This turned out to be a kind of "super glass" with unexpected properties such as extreme hardness (harder than steel) and high index of refraction.

Saeid started the company Diamorph to commercialize his discovery. Right now, the company is cooperating with the wind power industry to develop more strong and lightweight bearings for wind turbines that have to withstand tremendous pressure and poor lubricant condition.

Congrats to Saeid not just for his research but also for adding some user perspective in the world of research. Saeid earlier said: "If I talk about atoms and bonds and nitrides, people fall asleep at their desks. But if I talk about this wind power plant and the problems we're wrestling with, then everyone wants to join in!"
