High profile India-born fashion designer Anand Jon, convicted for sexually assaulting upcoming models lost his appeal for a fresh trial in his case after a court in Los Angeles dismissed the request sought on grounds that a juror had improperly contacted his sister. The lawyers for Jon had requested for a new trial citing the misconduct but the Los Angeles County judge ruled that the juror's contact with the defendant's sister before the verdict did not prevent the designer from getting a fair trial.

I had an awesome time at WordCamp Dallas this weekend. Thanks to everyone who helped John P. and me organize the event, and to everyone who came! You can see a full write up on my blog, CaliLewis.me. Dave Curlee will be cleaning up the recordings and I'll post them right here on GeekBrief.TV. The best way to know when they're up is to follow me on Twitter, where I'll post the links. PogoPlug is now Mac friendly. It makes external hard drives accessible on your local network and over the Internet. They're sending me one, so we'll have a review soon. Two iPhone projectors are coming to market. Lancer's iJector appears to work with any iPod that does video including the iPhone and iPod touch. Resolution is 557X234 and projection size is up to 50 inches, and has stereo speakers. The second one is a joint effort from BeamBox and MiLi. The Evolution Mini Power Projector is 10 lumens, and resolution is 640X480. X-mini Capsule Speakers are smaller than an egg when closed, but they have a patented expandable vacuum that they say mimics the resonance of a sub-woofer. When expanded, one is about the size of an egg. It has a rechargeable battery, and an 1/8-inch mini plug and USB connector.

According to many psychiatrists, we are approaching one of the most depressing times of the year for singles; I am talking about Valentines day. A day which is surrounded by giving heart shaped boxes of chocolate and roses, and also many romantic dinners for couples. But in the middle of all this activity do we ever really stop to think about the most important element of Valentines day; that ingredient which in itself makes anyone joyful and uplifts the faint hearted and depressed. Yes, I am talking about love. But, even though we recognize love as the main point of Valentines day, do we even know what the meaning of love is?
